Dr. Luke Smith (osteopath)
Luke owes his decision to pursue a career in osteopathy to his older brother. He went to an information session with his brother when he was a teenager and fell in love with the principles of Osteopathy, especially the anatomy and biomechanical function of the human body. He then went on to Victoria University to study osteopathy, which provided him with the foundations to grasp the value of holistic treatment, and he now focuses on getting his customers back to doing what they enjoy.
Luke is passionate about treating combat athletes, which derives from his own experience as a Hyperfly-sponsored black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ). Luke competes both locally and internationally, winning state, national, and Pan-Pacific titles.
He also does cross-train in boxing, muay thai, MMA, wrestling, and judo, which has aided him in expanding his understanding of combat sports injuries. In addition, he has vast experience working with powerlifters and gym goers of all ages and abilities.
Luke is interested in nutrition for weight loss, recovery, and performance because he predominately works with weight-classed athletes. He is a Mac Nutritionist that has assisted a number of amateur and professional fighters in effectively preparing for their fights.
Outside of work and the gym, Luke enjoys coffee, travel, food and music.
