No. Osteopaths are first-contact practitioners in Australia. A GP referral is only needed to use a Medicare Chronic Disease Management plan.

Yes, if your extras cover includes osteopathy. You can claim on the spot at the clinic. Check your level of cover with your fund.

Medicare may cover part of the fee if your GP refers you under a Chronic Disease Management plan. Bring the referral to your first appointment.

Allow 45 minutes to an hour for your first osteopathy appointment. Follow-up appointment lengths are shown when you book online.

Something comfortable you can move in, such as shorts and a loose top, plus any relevant scans, reports and your health fund card.

It depends on the problem and how it responds. We will give you an honest idea at your first appointment and review it as you go.

Usually not completely. We go through what is fine to keep doing and what to hold off on while things settle.

Treatment can be uncomfortable at times but should not be painful. You can ask to change or stop any technique.

Osteopathy appointments are with Dr Luke Smith. Remedial massage is with Nick Mann on Mondays, Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Part of every assessment is checking for problems that need a GP, imaging or a specialist. If that is the case, we will tell you and explain why.
