What remedial massage is for
Remedial massage is hands-on treatment of muscles and soft tissue, aimed at a specific problem rather than general relaxation. It suits muscle tightness and overload: the sore back after a big week at work, tight calves from running, a stiff neck from the desk, or shoulders and forearms after a hard week of training.
Sessions start with a short assessment of what's going on, then treatment focused on that area. Pressure is adjusted to suit you.
What people book Nick for
Back and neck tightness
Desk-related tension, stiff backs and sore necks.
Training recovery
Legs after running, forearms and shoulders after grappling, and general soreness in heavy training blocks.
Before and after events
Lighter work in the days before a comp or race, and recovery afterwards. Massage before competition.
Alongside osteopathy
Massage between osteo appointments, as part of the same plan.
Who you'll see
Nick Mann, remedial massage therapist. Nick has more than 15 years behind him as a personal trainer and martial arts coach. He combines hands-on work with exercise, so a session usually comes with something to do afterwards.
He holds black belts in six martial arts disciplines and has won MMA titles across three weight divisions, so he knows what training does to a body.
Massage or osteo?
Book massage for muscle tightness and overload. Book osteopathy for a new injury, pain you're unsure about, pain with pins and needles or numbness, or anything that needs a diagnosis. If Nick thinks something needs a fuller assessment, he'll say so and point you to Luke.
